Illness

So I've been sick since last Wednesday, and I've noticed that being sick today is wayyy different then being sick a year ago. When I go to do errands, because the world doesn't stop because I'm sick, I can't help but cough occasionally and I get the worst looks ever. People shirk away, glare, go out of their way to avoid you, etc... Since H1N1 has become a problem people are no longer nice to sick people... .they are mean.

  1. People are definitely a lot more health conscious now a days. (All of those hand sanitation devices around campus?) But that shouldn't give people the right to get mad at you for going out in public when you're sick. Like you said, the world doesn't stop, you need to go out once and a while. All the negative hype about HINI has made people unnecessarily scared, which in turn makes them more hostile to the sick and more introverted. Hand sanitizer does just fine, they shouldn't have to glare at you.

  2. This is so true!!! I have seen this happen so many times and it must really suck for the people that get sick!! However, H1N1 is not such a problem anymore, anyway...so I don't see why people are so concerned about it. But whatever if people want to glare at you, let them, that's not going to change anything. I don't see why people have to do those types of things, I mean it's not like they glare at you and your sickness is going to go away.

  3. Haha...that is some pretty harsh treatment directed towards a sick person. I agree with the idea of how people are much more paranoid about sick people with the flu and H1N1 around. Hope you are feeling better and that you didn't get Swine...

  4. I mean it is understandable why people may look at you that way. You are a threat to them...and you can't stop them from giving you the evil eye. This is actually quite hilarious because I know I have looked at a couple of people when they cough and don't cover up they mouth...they may even be more embarrassed because I will pull out a small can of lysol and spray and if I know them I will give them hand sanitizer!
