Meal plans suck!

So I've known now for a while what a rip off meal plans are, but I've just been so pissed about it recently that I feel it deserves a blog entry! Tuesdays mark the end of the week for a week's worth of meals. When Wednesday rolls around, we again receive 8, 10, 14, etc etc.... meals that we will never use up. A typical meal at either Ramshead or Lenior is about 9$ - 10$! It is definitely not worth the cost in the slightest!

SOOO I find myself extremely annoyed today when I am constantly returning to Rams to eat about 1$ worth of food...so that my pitiful meal plan won't be in vain. I would rather just use the flex points to purchase food with no tax cost... I'd even prefer flex only, but no! The dining service has found a way to con us all.... You are not allowed to purchase flex unless you buy a meal plan to go along with it. (I have the smallest meal plan, 8 meals a week, and I still do not use them all!!) Next semester I suppose I might just use cash for everything...but I'm not yet exactly sure...Any thoughts?

  1. Dude, just wrote a huge comment and it DELETED it.
Anyway, I completely agree with you. The meals are not worth the money and my plan was to get rid of my meal plan next semester and just use flex, but hey, didn't know about that little loop hole. I'm slowly starting to hate Carolina Dining Services.
The only up side to getting a meal plan is being able to eat with your friends because they have one, and the convenience factor.
Nevertheless, I still loath the dining hall and the meal plan and if you find a magical loop hole let us know!

  2. Eddie, I love your title.
Besides that, I'm still stuck in the middle when it comes to meal plans. Yes, they are definitely not worth your money when it comes to food. However, they are when it comes to eating and spending time with your friends. ALMOST everyone has a meal plan. And they're kind of convenient because you can stop by if you're hungry without having to worry about paying since it's already paid.
