So apparently today the University is testing their Carolina Alert systems by setting the sirens off for an extended amount of time from like 12:00pm to either 1pm or 2pm. I thought I would have to sit at work today at my little desk in Avery listening to the Siren for my whole shift. Thankfully I have not heard the alarm at all!!! This is great news and scary news!
I do not have to listen to the annoying alarm all day but I'm slightly disturbed, because if this had been a real situation I'd totally be uniformed by the siren. Therefore, I'd be completely unaware of what might be happening. I did however receive the nifty text messages from Carolina Alert that informed that a drill was taking place. I then received a text a little later to let me know that all is clear and that the drill was over.
If you haven't registered you cellphone to receive texts from Carolina Alert you should do so as soon as possible!

I registered my phone and got the same text and I did not hear the alarm as well. It was pretty sketch. Whether I am asleep or awake, I would like to be able to hear an alarm if something is happening on campus. --What were you doing in Avery, Eddie? That's not where you live. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI work in Avery on Tuesdays and Thursdays as an OA! =)
